A gorgeous and uniquely designed Victorian style drop-front secretary desk. This piece features a central drop-front desk top which opens by pulling a ribbon to reveal various sized cubbies and a single drawer. A sliding support with a brass knob pull is set on either side of the case to hold the writing surface. The drop-front has a fantastic carved acanthus design in its center. Below the drop-front are three drawers with pairs of large brass knob pulls and a central brass adorned keyhole. Above the writing cabinet is a mirror-backed gallery with spindled sides. The gallery is topped by a curved upper shelf with back and side rails—the back of which has simple scrollwork detailing this piece sits atop simple integral legs in back and tall slender fluted legs in front. Some light finish wear throughout and a crack to veneer to back right leg—see pics.
